What is the fastest pressure for your tires?
Time savings: 1-3 minutes
Over the past few years, we have seen a major shift in tire width as 23 and 25mm tires are being replaced by 28 and even 30mm. It was common thinking years ago that narrow tires pumped up to 100-120psi were the fastest setup. The research now shows quite the opposite. In fact, with the advent of wider rims, tire manufacturers are now producing wider, faster, and better performing than ever before. You can run the wider tires at lower pressures (70-80 psi), get better traction, and decrease rolling resistance!
Our friends at Bicycle Rolling Resistance have performed tests on the top brands to determine what setup is, in fact, the fastest. Continentals new Grand Prix 5000TL come out on top with the 28mm version the best all-around performer. Have a read and let us know what you think!
