I’m lucky enough to live in Squamish for eight out of the twelve months of the year. With a trail bike and a road bike, I felt limited in the exploring that I could do by bicycle.
From friends, I would hear about these wild gravel rides in the area. Squamish Valley road runs 80km north towards the Elaho Valley, the first 20km of this road is paved, but afterward, it turns to gravel for another 60km. The Sea-to-Sky trail is a gravel trail that runs parallel to highway 99 ending in Pemberton.
The Solo opened up all of these routes for me. Working with a limited budget I opted for an aluminum frame and to keep the build stock. This bike also doubles as my winter bike, the frame has convenient fender mounts, and allows for a narrower road tire. It is a humble bike but is not limited in the places it can explore.
